A little logo/crest/insignia I designed for myself today. I sketched out the basic shapes while I was waiting in my doctor's office, and then I made this graphic tonight. I finally got my version of PaintShop to work on my new PC, so this was my first real graphics project on my new machine. And I think it turned out very well, I'm extrememly satisfied with the final image. It was about an hour's work in PSP8.

As for the crest itself, I really wanted to have a little insignia I could use to represent myself on the web. Sure, I love using my little Dog Fashion Disco middle finger guy for my avatar, but I wanted something unique, something that was 100% my own. Clearly it's a very sharp, pointy, jagged little thing, reminiscent of blades, which is just what I wanted. I colored it silver, of course, always has to be silver for me ("Silence is golden, but violence is silver", as I sometimes like to say). Inspiration came from lots of places, most notably the concept from one of my old favorite poems, "Eclipse For an Eye", which you can read here [link] if you'd like to. Also, right next to my computer I have a Children of Bodom poster flag hanging up with the cover art from Hate Crew Deathroll on it. Those of you not familiar with the album, it's a picture of the Grim Reaper swinging his huge scythe. So that big scythe kind of inspired the shapes I used here. I realize now a slim resemblance to the logo for A Perfect Circle, but that wasn't my intention. Doesn't really even look like it but some might get that impression so I thought I'd mention it anyway.

I guess that's way too much description for a stupid little logo.... Anyway, I'll probably be using it as the screenshot for future poetry submissions, plus I'll be tinkering with the graphic to come up with some new pictures or something interesting along those lines. New colors and shit like that..... All right, that's all.
