Description

"in death reborn through the bestial flames of black art for the pleasure of dying in your hands again... they won't stay dead..."

Finally, after what seems like several forevers worth of work, I give you "Death Metal Holocaust II (Death Metal or Die!!!)"... and once again, I must say: "Damn, this is one ugly motherfucker isn't it?" Yeah, I made a real mess of this one - took me about 3 times as long to make this as the 1st one did. That's probably because I found myself with a huge problem in how I'd planned to lay out everything & basically had to start that process all over again. But it's finished now, I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out, now I never want to see it again...

Once again, this is just a little tribute to my musical genre of choice: death metal. In almost all it's many varieties, I do love my death metal with an unholy passion. When I started "Part 2" here, I debated as to whether I wanted to include different logos from some of the bands I'd already represented in the original "Death Metal Holocaust" but, in the end, I decided to use completely different bands exclusively. Made the job a whole lot harder, but I got plenty of time to kill... Again, this was all assembled in PaintShop Pro 8, as usual, with logos provided mostly by the bands themselves, record labels or various metal database websites. I made this a 1600x1200 size image again, since that's the size I used for the original - another dumb idea on my part, but it still got done. Just remind me to use a smaller canvas when undertaking similar projects in the future. And yes, there will be more shit like this eventually... I doubt too many people would want to use this as a desktop wallpaper - way, way too damned sloppy, serious over-stimulation, it'd be almost impossible to find anything. But, hell, if anyone wants to use it on their desktop, be my guest...

I didn't stick to pure death metal obviously, so don't break my balls if you personally don't consider melodic death or death-thrash to be "tr00" death metal. If that means I'm not "tr00" enough, that's just fine. Fuck y00... Yeah, so I definitely included a good sampling of the subgenres here: Swallow the Sun & Amorphis representing the doom-death spectrum, Carnal Forge, Nightrage & Dew-Scented are death-thrash, then of course, I had to include a few of the death metal forefathers: Possessed, Nihilist, Autopsy, Master & so on... Subgenres are a real bitch, so for the most part, I just say fuck 'em. If you really want to debate a certain band's right to be labeled as "death metal" in any extent, please direct all remarks to the complaint department.

Bands you'll find here: Abaddon Incarnate, Abscess, Absu, Abysmal Dawn, Acheron, Aeon, Amorphis, Autopsy, Belphegor, Bethzaida, Blood Red Throne, Brujeria, Brutal Truth, Callenish Circle, Cancer, Carcariass, Carnage, Carnal Forge, Chastisement, Coffins, Coram Lethe, Crionics, Death Breath, Deeds of Flesh, Defleshed, Demonoid, Devilyn, Devourment, Diabolic, Die, Dim Mak, Disgorge, Disincarnate, Dissection, Edge of Sanity, Emeth, Enforsaken, Exhumed, Face Down, Fate of Icarus, Fear Factory, God Among Insects, God Dethroned, Gojira, Gorefest, Gorerotted, Gorgasm, Gorod, Hacksaw to the Throat, Hate, Hearse, Hellwitch, Horned God, Illdisposed, Impious, In Battle, Internal Bleeding, Internal Suffering, In-Quest, Jungle Rot, Kataklysm, Krisiun, Light This City, Lost Soul, Machetazo, Malignancy, Martyr, Master, Murder Squad, Myrkskog, Necrophagia, Nihilist, Nightrage, Node, Odious Mortem, Omnium Gatherum, One Man Army and the Undead Quartet, Pessimist, Pillory, Pungent Stench, Ritual Carnage, Sanctification, Satariel, Scar Symmetry, Severe Torture, Severed Savior, Sinister, Spawn of Possession, Sulaco, Suture, Swallow the Sun, Thanatos, Torchbearer, Torture Killer, Trauma, Ulcerate, Unholy Ghost, Vile, Visceral Bleeding, Vicious Art, Within Y, Yyrkoon

There are a few genre lines I've crossed or bands that may not seem like they should be here, so let me try & explain as many of those as possible right now: Nihilist is NOT the same exact band as Entombed - they formed in 1987, recorded several demos, then split up in '89. Most of the band then went on to form Entombed, while Johnny Hedlund founded Unleashed. Nihilist also featured the recently departed Leif Cuzner (R.I.P.) on guitars & vocalist Johan Edlund of Tiamat. Dissection is most certainly a black metal band at heart but they always fused a little bit of death metal sound into their music. Not to mention that their last (and final) album, ReinkaΩs is very much a melodic death metal album. Fear Factory is industrial, no doubt, but their earliest recordings, 1st album, Soul of a New Machine and some more beyond that definitely had some death metal mixed in there. Amorphis is not a death metal band anymore - like so many others, they've ended up as more of a gothic metal/doom rock band - but albums like The Karelian Isthmus and Tales From the Thousand Lakes are definitely death-doom. I think that should pretty much cover it...

All logos & band names are of course © to their respective owners, musicians, designers, record labels & demonic possessors. This is free publicity for all these guys, so I doubt anyone will object to this. I don't have the patience to add links to all the individual band websites & related info, so for all your metal knowledge needs (death or otherwise), drag your carcass over to The Encyclopaedia Metallum. Unfortunately, even in 2 parts, there are still plenty of bands I've neglected to feature. Not quite enough to inspire a "Death Metal Holocaust III", but hey, ya never know. If you're wondering why there are no real grindcore, death-grind, goregrind or any bands here (with some exceptions) like Regurgitate, Cephalic Carnage, Prostitute Disfigurement, Mortician and about a half-million Carcass clones, I'm saving all those bands for a seperate image/project, exclusively focusing on those repulsive, disgusting monstrosities of grinding murder music peddlers. Not sure when I'll get around to that but it won't be all that soon - I'm really burnt out on sorting through band logos right now... I'll definitely post something when I start that or any other related ideas that may creep into my severed head.

Dedicated to those great death metal warriors who have recently fallen: Jesse Pintado (Napalm Death, Terrorizer), Jared Anderson (Hate Eternal, Morbid Angel), the aforementioned Leif Cuzner (Nihilist, Lobotomy) & Jon Nödtveidt (Dissection) - the music you all created is eternal & Death shall have no reign over your mortal legacies... rest well... (forgive me if I've forgotten anyone) - as well as to death metal fans everywhere. Thank you all for making "Death Metal Holocaust" such a huge success & I hope you'll all enjoy this abomination reborn at least partially as much as you did the original. Hails, metal brothers & sisters! :horns:

I would add Mortem, Sadistic Intent, and some more new Swedeath bands.
